About Open Access Textbooks

There are some textbooks that have been created by other universities or individuals that can be used for free. These might not be used in your classes at AUP. It is a great deal of work to change the entire outline of a class to a new text. Some of the open access textbooks may not have all of the information that your professor wants to use. Nevertheless, these may be useful as outside references or reading if you need more information on a topic or want to have more examples, questions, etc.

Elementary Algebra 2e is designed to meet scope and sequence requirements for a one-semester elementary algebra course. The book's organization makes it easy to adapt to a variety of course syllabi. Each topic builds upon previously developed material to demonstrate the cohesiveness and structure of mathematics. The second edition contains detailed updates and accuracy revisions to address comments and suggestions from users. Though the authors made significant changes and enhancements, exercise and problem numbers remain nearly the same in order to ensure a smooth transition for faculty.
