Linking to Library Electronic Resources

This guide describes how to link Library resources onto Blackboard

Blackboard

To add persistent links or permalinks to Blackboard you can follow these instructions.  [See other pages of this guide to learn what links to use - when links are formed correctly, the articles and ebooks can be accessed from home or on campus by AUP students, faculty and staff.]

Once you have the persistent link, copy it. You can now go to the section on the Blackboard site where you want to place the article or eBook links.

Once in your Blackboard course go to the folder where you want to place your persistent link or permalink.
Select the button ‘Build Content’ near the top left of the page and

select ‘Web Link’ from the dropdown menu. Give it a name and copy the prefix + the persistent link in the URL field. Example:

http://proxy.aup.fr/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=a9h&AN=117759655&site=ehost-live&scope=site

This is where to put the prefix + the persistent link

On item 4 of the web link options ‘Open in New Window’ click on ‘Yes’.

If you want to track how many times the link has been opened from Blackboard, click 'Track Number of Views'.

Then click the ‘Submit’ button.

Finally, check if your new link on Blackboard works.  Your students are now ready to access the article from home or on campus: download it, print it or read it.
